Lakeway is located about 25 miles west of Austin, along the south shore of Lake Travis. What once was a 2,700-acre ranch has evolved into a bustling resort community completed with golf courses, resort hotel, marina, airport and full range of services provided through its own municipality, the city of Lakeway. In earlier years, Lakeway was primarily a retirement and second-home community. Today, families are drawn to the lake lifestyle and renown schools, while active empty-nesters and young professionals are beckoned by the surrounding beauty, proximity to Austin employers and virtually unlimited golf and water sports.Lakeway was the first major development on the lake's south side.
